This Sensory Truck is a mobile sensory play space that gives magical experiences to children with disabilities and their families across Bristol. It is only the second sensory vehicle of its kind in the UK, and was set up by Bristol Play Bus who are based in Barton Hill. It provides a welcome short break from caring, a relaxing one to one or interactive session. Using a range of interaction techniques their skilled workers support children to work on skills such as colour recognition, vocalisation, gross motor skills, focusing or, just a simple head massage.
Bristol Play Bus & Sensory Truck Testimonial
"Bristol Play Bus is a Children’s charity operating across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. Operating out of our Double-decker bus we work with children and families suffering deprivation either socially, economically or through Disability. The Sensory Truck was a new project funded by The Big Lottery fund with the aim of taking specialist Sensory equipment directly to disabled children and their families.
Nick was tasked with coming up with an original design that represented the new Sensory Truck Project and the exciting technology onboard. He kept me involved all the way through the process, showing me images and samples and was very responsive to my opinions. Nick was extremely pleasant to work with, always calm and good humoured and delivered the project on time and on brief. I would highly recommend Nick and Olas Art to anyone wanting a personally designed piece of artwork but particularly to anyone wanting an artist who can positively engage with young people, these skills are what set him apart from other artists."
